Excelsior photo session

Where in MN can you go to the beach, see a movie in an old fashioned theater, eat some sushi, go to the pet store, and have some home made ice cream, all on the same block? That's right-Excelsior! And, get this...did you know that at the Dunn Bros. coffee shop on Beach Ave, you can listen to live music and drink wine or beer? How cool is that? I arrived a little early for my photo session, so I decided to walk around & have some coffee-this is where I learned about all of the fun things to do in Excelsior. I can't believe I didn't know this-after how many photo sessions & weddings, not to mention Maynard's! What a great date location-too bad for my hubby & I it's about a 45 minute drive for us. Lucky for Alisa & Sam, it's just around the corner for them!

Beautiful baby girl #2

One of my regular clients was recently blessed with child #2. It has been so much fun, and such an honor to be documenting the growth of their family, from mom & dad's wedding, up to now. I am so excited for them, I feel like they are an extension of my own family! Here she is, beautiful baby girl #2.

Smiley baby girl...

Some of you may remember hearing about the benefit for my niece Lilie who peacefully passed away in September. You may also remember that before her passing, there was a benefit to help my brother & his wife with medical costs. As a part of the benefit, I donated a large photography package, and the family who won the silent auction item came to the studio yesterday to have their new baby & and updated family portrait done. It was very nice to get to know the family & to thank them for helping out with not only the auction purchase, but also for the time that they gave to help make the benefit such a big success. Thanks again Lindsey-you have a beautiful, loving family!

Valerie & Jeff's E-Session in Stillwater

Yesterday I met Valerie & Jeff in Stillwater, where they got engaged. It was such a beautiful day-the sky was blue, the clouds were fluffy, it was nice & warm.

Jeff & Valerie have a beautiful engagement story: Jeff took Valerie to the Ann Bean Mansion that weekend. They ate at (one of our favorite restaurants) Marx Wine Bar for dinner, went shopping on Main Street at the kitchen shop, candy shop, had coffee at the place behind Marx then went wine tasting at Northern Vineyards. To top things off, later that evening Jeff proposed to Valerie back at the mansion in front of the fireplace. Doesn’t it sound perfect?

Here is just a teaser, just a few of my favorite images-I LOVE them! CLICK HERE TO SEE THE SLIDESHOW. Valerie and Jeff are such a great couple, so nice & also very photogenic-I can't wait to photograph their wedding in July!

New Product-Exclusively from Michelle Huber Photography!

Check out this new product, they're called mini-gallery wraps! The thing that is so cool about them, is that they are unique! These beautiful mini gallery wraps are made from glossy metallic photo paper, so you never have to worry about them fading like a print on canvas fabric would.

I had a few walls in my house that needed something different. I wanted to hang something other than just a plain print in a frame. I wanted it to be elegant, yet modern. So, after doing some research, and having knowledge from being an experienced framer, I came up with this product. Please let me know what you think! I posted these images on facebook, and already have two orders for them!

Jill & Noah

Last night I met Jill & Noah for the first time in person-and I must say, Jill is as beautiful in person as she is one the phone! I feel very lucky to be the one they chose to photograph their wedding, because they are such an awesome couple! Jill & Noah live in Texas, but are getting married in Minnesota. Of course on the one weekend that they come, even though it's May, it happens to get frigid cold! O.K., Maybe it wasn't THAT bad...but I felt so bad for them! Jill was such a trooper even with the cold, and I am so glad, because the images from the session are HOT!!! We started out here at the studio & on our property, then, after a clothing change, we went over to Minneapolis. -CLICK HERE TO SEE THE SLIDESHOW!!

Congratulations Jill & Noah-I cannot wait to photograph your wedding in October!

Please, don't be shy, I love to hear your comments!

One of my Woodbury, MN weddings is featured on One wed.com!

Remember Sarah & Joe's wedding that I photographed in Woodbury, MN? Well Sara & Joe's wedding has been featured on the one wed.com website! I am so excited!!! One of the editors from the wedding planning website contacted me and asked me if I would submit photos from a recent wedding. Which is really cool, because I didn't submit to them, they asked ME!! I wasn't sure what to expect, I figured they maybe asked a million other photographers to do that too, but mine was picked & they posted a few of them with the story on the website today-how exciting! Congratulations Sarah & Joe!

Trash the dress in Stillwater Caves!

Recently I was invited to a group photography TTD. I love photographing with other photographers-I always learn new things. These images were taken in Stillwater, MN. Some of them were taken by the river, and some in the caves at Luna Rossa, an amazing wine bar/restaurant. The manager was kind enough to let us have free reign of the caves for our photoshoot. Thank you Jess & Alex for being such awesome models for us!

Don't be shy, I love to hear your feedback, please-leave a comment!

Angie & Matt

Yesterday I had one of the most fun & unique engagement sessions. One of Angie & Matt's favorite things to do for fun is to go bowling. Matt & Angie met at this particular bowling alley, and he proposed to her with a new bowling ball (that also accompanied a beautiful ring of course!) at this bowling alley-so it made perfect sense that we do an engagement session there. We also did some nice "portraity" ones both in the studio, and outside, but we'll talk about that later. So, Matt was able to smooth talk the bowling alley manager, so we had the entire bowling alley to ourselves. His inside connections also gave us special VIP treatment, which allowed us onto parts of the bowling alley that no one is ever allowed to step foot! I am still editing the 200+ images, and will post the slideshow soon, but I just couldn't wait to post just a couple to give you an idea of some of the cool stuff we were able to do. Please check back for the slideshow, I promise I won't post all 200, but just enough to provide you with some yummy eye candy! The lights were so fun to play with, I got some really cool effects.

Don't be shy, I love to hear your feedback! Please leave me a comment:

"Lifestyle Session"

This session started out in the studio on one of my new backdrops-it's kind of one of those trendy "Drop it Modern" style backdrops, only I made it myself, so a lot less expensive...anyone who knows me well knows how frugal I am! Then, we went outside & ran around & played. The dog even got in on one!

The thing I love about this session, is how I was able to bring out the personalities of these two, and to also document the relationship between the two siblings. They had so much fun-and so did I!!! :) I wish I had images like this of me with my siblings when we were little-I know these images will be cherished for many years to come.

I pretty much just let them goof around & play. It was awesome. Then, once and a while, I snuck in a posed shot or two.

Free Wedding Photography Package Giveaway!

I recently found out about an exciting opportunity for photographers to give back to the community called "Giving is Awesome". I am excited to announce that I am joining the ranks of photographers all around the world to give away a photography package for a deserving couple.

You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, holding down more than one job, laid off in the midst of wedding planning, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom wedding photography, but who would cherish it forever. You know someone who deserves a life-long reminder of their vows to each other, and new family-to be's spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone, or someone you know knows someone, I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom wedding photography -- $1700 worth, to be exact. Six hours of wedding photography coverage on their wedding day, a complimentary engagement session, and a DVD slideshow to watch over and over, it's in your power to give them the beautiful photography coverage that they deserve for their wedding.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $100 print credit, which can be used how ever they want. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, what the wedding date is-if known, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* The nominee's wedding date has to be scheduled around our availability. (We simply cannot be two places at once) Few 2009 and many 2010 dates are still available; please inquire if you have specific concerns or questions.

* You must e-mail me the full story: michelle@huberportraits.com

The winner will be announced on June 7th, 2009 -- get nominating! I can't wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone -- and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Michelle Huber

Happiness Quote

I saw this quote today & thought I would share it...I really like it:

"Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose."

Sarah & Joe's Wedding in Woodbury, MN

Last night I called Trent to let him know that I was on my way home from the wedding, and to tell him how EXTREMELY stoked I was. There were so many things I wanted to share with him. First of all, Sarah is the nicest, sweetest young woman I think I have ever met, and Joe is equally sweet-it's so amazing that they found each other. They actually met in high school, and dated for 7 years. The pastor talked about how sweet Sarah is, always has been, and how thrilled he was to officiate their wedding, he described them as the nicest, sweetest couple-see-it's not just me! He also said that he knew that they would have a strong marriage, because of their faith. He said that he knows from experience, his own, and from witnessing others, that with God in your life, you can accomplish anything. He also told a story about a couple that was having a rough time...to make a long story short-the wife started packing her bags to leave the husband, the husband started packing his bags too. The wife asked "What are you doing?" The husband said "If you're leaving, I am coming with you". That is the kind of commitment that makes for a successful marriage. I can never tell a story as well as the original, so I hope it makes sense.

Before I left for the evening, I asked Sarah if there was anything else she would like me to stay for to cover, she said "Oh my gosh Michelle! You are so kind, you have already far exceeded our expectations!" She said that she heard so many positive comments about me throughout the day and that she was so excited to see the pictures.

That was the perfect ending of a perfect evening for me.

Anyway, these two were such a joy to work with, I could babble on and on, but I am sure you really want to see some pictures. For now, I am only posting one. It is one of the first images that I took of Sarah...she is so beautiful-on the inside and on the outside. I will post more as I finish editing them all.

Congratulations again Sarah & Joe!

Angela & Andy's Winter E-Session

Angela & Andy are a very adorable couple with a beautiful & bright future. Trent and I felt very honored to be allowed into thier lives to document this beautiful time in thier lives. Angela is a very strong, intelligent woman. She is a true leader, also a recent cancer survivor, and a strong inspiration to Andy, I believe that together with thier faith, they are unstoppable! We were blessed with such a beautiful day, the temperature was up into the forties! Now, for my mom & dad in Florida, that is freezing cold, but for us Minnesotans, it was wonderful! But before we went outdoors, we started out at their apartment, where Andy proposed to Angela, he wrote her a beautiful poem...then we went up north to White Bear Lake for some fun in the snow, then to their first date site for some yummy pizza at The Italian Pie Shoppe in Saint Paul. We had so much fun-I am looking forward to photographing Angela & Andy's wedding in February of 2010. You can click here to see a slideshow of a few of my favorites.

New Ideas & New Technologies

My oldest son; Andrew is a multi media designer-he works with technology that is growing so fast, that by the time anyone has even heard of it, it has already become obsolete! I am so proud of him-he has accomplished all of his dreams, making a very good living doing what he loves! I recently posted a link to his website on my website links, so I thought I would brag+blog a little about my baby and show some samples of his work: www.andrewstifter.com
I can't wait to merge some of our new technologies with our photography business...I am so impatient, I wish I could tell you more...more info will be coming soon, I promise! Don't worry-I won't make you look like a monster, it's all about the multi-media effects! I will say, that when we do roll out the new "Michelle Huber Photography", we will also be freshening up our look, and are open to any ideas, so please send an email or comment with any ideas or suggestions you have for us.
